Senior Software Engineer, APIBrooklyn, NY
Kickstarter is seeking an experienced software engineer in our Brooklyn office who wants to help bring creative projects to life through our GraphQL API.
About the Team
Kickstarter’s API will enable developers and third-party partners to connect directly with our community. Working alongside the product organization at large, our small and mighty API team is defining the essential elements of our platform to unlock developers’ imaginations. We work in close partnership with designers and product managers in an iterative and data-driven process, building and refining our platform to support our mission of bringing creative projects to life.
About the Role
In this role you will be building and maintaining features with an understanding of how to design APIs at scale. You enjoy collaborating with various teams and communicate frequently with those who interact with our API and backend systems. The API team is a growing team that focuses on improving the Kickstarter experience for our internal and external partners through our GraphQL API. You will be a core contributor to the growth and maturity of our new API by helping us build it from the early stages.
You have 3+ years of professional experience designing fullstack or backend applications.
You have experience in designing and shipping APIs.
You work with a strength towards user-friendly API design, clear implementation and performant solutions.
You have a strong understanding of databases and data structures.
You have excellent communication skills and are good at giving and receiving feedback.
You enjoy working collaboratively and participating in team discussions and planning.
You have experience mentoring other engineers on various languages and/or frameworks.
You have experience working iteratively and maintaining live products.
You write tests to ensure delivery of high-quality software.
Bonus (optional but nice to have skills!) - familiarity with working on a production GraphQL environment and/or production API environment.
